above the street.

Just below 14th Street, all the way on Manhattan's west side, is the beginning of the Highline, an elevated park that sits on old railroad tracks and runs from 10th Street into the 30s, looking west over New Jersey, and east across Manhattan. The neighborhood below the bottom chunk of the Highline is the uber-trendy Meatpacking District. It's full of models, artists and fashion. But when you climb the stairs up to the Highline, suddenly all of New York's noise fades into the background, and there is an almost deafening opportunity for meditation and reflection, raised above the noise of street.
